aboutSpark is my personal wellness approach that I’ve developed over the course of my life. In my early 20's, I noticed that wellness (exercise, nutrition, stress management) provided a lot more than the results you see in the mirror. When viewed properly, wellness had the potential to create a momentum in multiple areas of life. I started realizing that the results in the mirror were just the tip of the iceberg. As I continued along my wellness journey I noticed the combination of exercise, nutrition, and stress management was the catalyst for physical health but it bled into other areas of my life. It helped me improve relationships, emotional health, mental health, and even spiritual health. It SPARKED a fire that would help me grow, evolve, transform, and adapt in all aspects of life. However, I noticed that wellness could disrupt and detract from the human experience as well. When viewed improperly, it could led to intense restriction, shame, guilt, comparison, and stress. Along with this possible downsides, I also noticed that there was a gap. A gap between the elite and the everyday individuals. Growing up I explored powerlifting, Olympic lifting, CrossFit, Bodybuilding, and general fitness methodologies. I was an athlete in high school so I was able to adapt and excel in these areas. However, I noticed that there was a divide. I noticed that a lot of people just didn't fit the parameters of certain methodologies. They just didn't have the skill, time, capacity, or ability to create the goal that they wanted. As I continued to grow as a fitness professional, I was conflicted. I knew we all shared the same goal. We all wanted to enhance our human experience in one capacity or another. Through my experiences in corporate wellness, personal training, strength and conditioning, and training high risk youth, I decided a changed needed to be made. I wanted to create an effective wellness system that could be funneled to the everyday individual no matter the background, experience level, or ability level. Something that could spark advanced results through simplistic means. Something that could spark breath-taking results without the downsides of guilt, shame, restriction, comparison and stress. This shouldn't be reserved just for the elite. Wellness was always intended to inclusive not exclusive. |
